Goodbye, Mom and Dad

Yesterday Mom and Dad spoke in church, then all 40-something of us (except amber and her family) crammed into the house for food and then saw them set apart as full time missionaries. I shot the group shot below, Presley shot the two-generation shot, and Marci shot a whole bunch of candids, some of which I've posted below. We'll miss you, Mom and Dad but I know you'll be great missionaries for The Lord and his church.

On What causes kids

When we say Erin's pregnant, more than once I've heard people say "You know what causes that, don't you?" in a joking (or maybe half-joking) way.

My response: "Yeah, I guess Erin and I will have to stop washing our clothes in the same load."
 Perhaps I could start using the equally snarky "Why, don't you?" or "Why? Are you wondering?"

 

Here we go again

Erin went to the Emergency room today for double vision and the spots she was seeing last night. The labs came back okay so the docs are just assuming it's a different variety of migraine, but the bigger news is that we also had an ultrasound while we were there and they confirmed that the baby we've only known about for a couple of weeks definitely has a heartbeat, looks healthy, and is 9 weeks 2 days along.

  New Baby Nielson will be due around September 15, which is the day before Josh's birthday. I'm hoping that (s)he comes on the 9th, though, so we can continue our pattern of 1-week-apart birthdays in september. Now to get serious about finding some good names Erin and I can both agree on. We can agree on at least 2 girl names but the boy names are always so much tougher...

Levi's Prayer

Levi's prayer from dinner tonight: "Please bless that Dad will stop making for dinner what Emma had for lunch."

  Oddly, it happens more than you'd think...even though we try to have at least SOME variety in our meals.

He WALKS!!!

Luke's been coasting and taking two or three independent steps at a time for months, but tonight he actually headed down the hall on his own! I'm so happy to see him walking!

Levi school pics

Now that we're mostly moved with just a few things left to do at the condo, I was able to get Levi's school pictures done. He says he doesn't like the black background, but I told him it's not for him - it's for the grandparents and I think it looks good. Now we just need to choose which picture to use as the school picture. Some of them are more purple on here than they were in Photoshop and I had the ISO set too high, but I'm still mostly happy with the results:

Lucas turned one year old yesterday! He's still not walking yet, but he's sure smiley and makes it very clear that he loves his daddy. (Da-da is still just about the only word he says, though I think I've heard uh-uh and bye-bye once or twice).

What animal is this bush supposed to be??
The Kids loved these cement lizards. I Don't remember who, but one of them asked how to wake the Lizards up. It was pretty cute.
