Ensign Peak trek

We decided to hike Ensign Peak last saturday for some family fun, to test the new lens, get some exercise, and hopefully put Erin into Labor. We accomplished all of that except putting her into labor. It was a 3 hour round trip when a healthy adult can usually do it in 1, but it was a lot of fun.

I'm not so happy with some of the pictures - they're not really prize-winners, but they're good memories just the same.

What lens did you get? Isn't it fun to run "tests" on the lenses?

Nice pictures!

Thanks.

My old stock lens - the 18-55mm, 3.5-5.5 aperture - died, so I just got another one of those. I'd really like to have gotten a 1.4, 18-200 or 300mm but those are way too pricey for our budget.

I love running tests and I Really want to go hiking again, but erin's probably not going to be in any shape to do it again soon unless I find a completely flat trail through a well-shaded forest.

Great pictures. Last I heard (earlier this week), Erin was having contractions really close together. Do you have a new baby? I never heard the end of the story.

Nope, no new baby yet. The contractions were coming pretty fast but weren't doing anything ( she hadn't dilated or effaced any more) so they gave her some anti-nausea stuff and some morphine and sent her home, telling us that the meds wouldn't slow down the contractions.

She slept for most of the next 24 hours and the contractions have slowed up. The doc says some women just contract a lot in their last month and that we should come in next when her water breaks of if there is something obviously wrong.

so now we're just waiting for the water to break and hoping that all the painful contractions and all his movements are doing some sort of good.
